The Pawtucket Foundation is pleased to announce the 9th Annual Awards Celebration will take place on April 10, 2012 at the Pawtucket Armory Arts Center.
Last year, a new owner purchased the armory and is now doing business as the Pawtucket Armory Arts Center, LLC. The drill hall is still available for lease for events, and other spaces in the building are also available for longer term leases. The Pawtucket Foundation announced the 2012 Awards Celebration honorees at its 11th Annual Meeting on January 24, 2012 at the Visitor Center.
The Person of the Year Award is presented to a person who has significantly enhanced the quality of economic and community life in Pawtucket. The Pawtucket Foundation is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2012 Person of the Year Award is Mr. John J. Partridge, a founding member of Partridge, Snow & Hahn, and co-founder of The Pawtucket Foundation. Mr Partridge has significantly contributed to the community through his generosity, leadership, service and participation with numerous charities and institutions. Mr. Partridge is well-respected throughout the state for his successful legal practice and non-profit volunteerism. He is a co-founder of The Pawtucket Foundation and played an instrumental role in creating the newly-formed Pawtucket Land Trust.
The Heritage Award recognizes outstanding long-term contributions to the quality of economic and community life in Pawtucket. This year, our honoree for the 2012 Heritage Award is Mr. Vincent Ceglie, Executive Director of the Blackstone Valley Community Action Program. Over the past 40 years, Mr. Ceglie has led his team to annually help over 12,000 families by providing housing, education, employment resources, energy assistance and access to basic needs through a food pantry. Through his work at BVCAP, Mr. Ceglie povides important services that improve the lives of thousands of families throughout the Blackstone Valley.
The Special Distinction Award is presented to an individual and/or organization in recogniztion of an important accomplishment in the community. The Pawtucket Foundation is pleased to announce the recipient of this merit award is Ms. Nancy Whit and the Pawtucket Citizens Development Corporation for outstanding accomplishments in housing development, neighborhood revitalization, and Healthy Places by Design policy advocacy. This year, under Ms. Whit's leadership, PCDC completed multiple affordable housing and mixed-use development projects that have dramatically improved the quality of place in Pawtucket.
These honorees will receive special recognition at the 9th Annual Awards Celebration scheduled to take place on April 10, 2012 at the Pawtucket Armory Arts Center. Each year, nearly 400 business and elected leaders come help celebrate the accomplishments of our honorees and the forward progress of the City of Pawtucket.
