Volunteers impress at Pawtucket Proud Day 2009

The Pawtucket Foundation hosted Proud Day on June 10th.  Thank you  to all of the volunteers, sponsors and in-kind contributors that made the event a success.  During the event the Foundation honored Ron Leitao from the City of Pawtucket Public Works Department for his work in preparing the Tolman site for Proud Day volunteers.  Visit the Proud Day portion of our website read more and view pictures from the event.


Dedication Ceremony for Cherry Trees of the Blackstone draws a crowd

Over 200 guest braved drizzling rain as the Cities of Central Falls and Pawtucket commemorated the installation of 60 Cherry Trees along Roosevelt Avenue.  Presentations were made by Congressman Patrick Kennedy, Japanese Consul General Masaru Tsuji, Mayor Moreau of Central Falls, Mayor Doyle of Pawtucket, the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, the Pawtucket Foundation, Attorney General Lynch and State Representatives Crowley and Kilmartin.  Following the presentations in front of M Residential, 555 Roosevelt Avenue, guests paraded down Roosevelt Avenue to the Central Falls-Pawtucket city line lead by giant cherry tree balloons floating 20 feet in the air. Blueprint^Bridge to Prosperity:

During the January 20th Annual Meeting the Pawtucket Foundation released its new policy initiative, Blueprint^Bridge to Prosperity.  The initiative frames the Foundation's existing mission and highlights a policy strategy for priority investments in Pawtucket -- a key part of the urban, Providence metropolitan region.  Amidst the excitement of a new federal urban and metropolitan policy which promises massive infrastructure investments in the near future, our Bridge to Prosperity agenda outlines four strategic pillars which will lead Pawtucket to prosperity:

  1. Innovation
  2. Human Capital
  3. Infrastructure
  4. Quality Places
