Foundation’s 11th Annual Meeting announces new website, funding for riverfront project, honorees and directors

Annual Meeting Invite 2012 (Pawtucket, RI) Co-Chairmen Daniel J. Sullivan and Kevin P. Tracy of The Pawtucket Foundation welcomed a crowd of over 100 business and elected leaders at its 11th Annual Meeting at the Blackstone Valley Visitor Center last Tuesday evening.  Mayor Grebien welcomed The Pawtucket Foundation members and guests while thanking them for their collaboration in advancing economic development in Pawtucket.

The high-energy event began with a video commemorating the 125th anniversary of the incorporation of the City of Pawtucket.  Among many positive reports and initiatives, The Pawtucket Foundation launched an exciting new website called ExperiencePawtucket.org to promote Pawtucket as a great place to live, work and visit.  Embolden, a Pawtucket-based web development firm, designed the interactive site.

During the meeting, Jennifer Pereira, grants program officer at the Rhode Island Foundation, presented a $38,000 grant award for The Pawtucket Foundation’s riverfront pre-development planning initiative. The board elected nine new board members and announced the honorees that will be feted at the Ninth Annual Awards Celebration on April 10, 2012.

During his report, Thomas Mann, executive director of The Pawtucket Foundation, explained that the City of Pawtucket awarded The Pawtucket Foundation a $50,000 Community Development Block Grant for a project to install greenery, planter boxes, bike racks, trashcan enclosures and new banners on Main Street.  Delin Design, a local brand, print and web design firm, showcased its prototype design for new street banners featuring the Experience Pawtucket live-work-visit motif.

Among many positive announcements, The Pawtucket Foundation highlighted the $125M in transportation investments ongoing in the City.  Mann recognized Thurlow Small Architecture and their consultant partners for winning three prestigious awards for the Pawtucket Downtown Design Plan.

At the end of the meeting, The Pawtucket Foundation staff surprised Embolden, Delin Design and Thurlow Small Architecture with “Made in Pawtucket” plaques in recognition of design excellence.  “We have tremendous design talent right here in Pawtucket,” boasted Mann.
